Les SalAmandas, Julie O’Sullivan (Ballydehob, West Cork) and Colyne Laverriere (Hostun, France) are an indie-folk duo with a pop sensibility EMERGING from Ballydehob, West Cork.
Les SalAmandas made their live debut at Levis Corner House, an award winning Irish venue, as part of ‘Secret Song Festival’ (2019). On 1st September 2020, they performed at a sold out gig in Levis Corner House and revealed a maturity of song-writing well beyond their years with thoughtful lyrics and smooth harmonies.
Over the last three years Julie & Colyne have immersed themselves in the cultural centre that is West Cork, having the opportunity to collaborate with and perform alongside local and national musicians, they have worked on their songwriting craft.
While the country wasn’t seeing too many gigs in 2020 and 2021 Les SalAmandas were delighted to have some debut performances in some of Ireland’s wonderful venues and festivals including; supporting Mick Flannery in Connollys of Leap, headlining in Lost Lane Dublin, performing at Waterford’s ‘Summer In the City’, Coughlan’s live promotion’s ‘The Great Beyond’ and finishing off with a performance in An Díseart at Other Voices alongside Dani Larkin and Clare Sands.
As the unmasked unrestricted gigs became our reality again in 2022 Les SalAmandas were thrilled to be travelling the country to perform their first festival season, playing at Body and Soul, Doolin Folk Festival, Three Rising Rivers, Galway Folk Festival, Vantastival, Clonakilty Guitar Festival and Coughlan’s Live 10 year anniversary.
This year has also seen them adding the finishing touches to their album that they recorded in 2021. Co-produced by award winning Canadian Producer Daniel Ledwell ( http://www.danielledwell.com ) and funded by their very successful crowdfunding campaign: Les SalAmandas had their first studio experience. Their project began as a remote collaboration and turned into a 12 day studio session that Julie & Colyne travelled to Canada to complete.
Les SalAmandas have released three singles from their debut Album, the first two being ‘Now Is The Time’ and ‘Mouldy’ which were both featured in episode 2 of the adaption of Graham Norton’s best selling Novel ‘Holding’. Directed by Kathy Burke, written by Dominic Treadwell-Collins and Karen Cogan the ITV series was shot in West Cork. The third single ‘Gold (Fall With The Gun)’ was released earlier this year. Early next year Les SalAmandas will release the full collection of songs to the world.
In November 2022 Les SalAmandas were delighted to find out they were nominated for the RTÉ Radio 1 folk awards for best emerging artist.
Having just finished the first tour of their debut album, Indie-folk duo Les SalAmandas are delighted to be sharing the sound of ‘There’s A Sea Between Us’ which was released in February 2023.
