Ana Palindrome is a band made up of Irish musicians Niamh Dalton (vocals, fiddle), Ruairi de Búrca (synths, programming) and Sara Leslie (bass, vocals). The project centres a fictionalised character, Ana Palindrome, developing a personality and aesthetic that propels the vision for their songwriting & music making. “With the bones of 10 songs written (most of which we recorded recently), we’re only just getting to know Ana – she’s leading the ship, it’s pretty fun”, explains songwriter Niamh Dalton. “Ana’s generally a bit shook and rattled by the world but has enough fire in the belly to turn the drama into soft bops and dreamy ballads”.
Ana Palindrome kicked off their gigging output supporting Anna Mieka in St. Lukes Cathedral in November 2022. Since then, they have been doing the rounds in the Irish underground scene at Quarter Block Party, Féile na Gréine & Seanie Buttons Presents, playing alongside Mount Eerie, ØXN, The Altered Hours, Tandem Felix, CitrusFresh, Jane Deasy and Muireann Levis. They received the IndieCork Music Award for their live performance of an original short film score at IndieCork film festival 2023. Ana Palindrome released their debut single SORRY A MILLION in February 2024.
The Ana Palindrome trio have been collaborating for years in various music projects in the Cork City DIY scene whilst being prolific contributors to the Irish underground music scene as individual artists. Ruairí de Búrca is a sound designer, composer and musician and a member of bands Crying Loser & Trá Pháidín. Sara Leslie is a musician, graphic designer & furniture maker, playing in bands Trá Pháidín & pôt-pot.
